Reflecting on Eighth and Penn's Lobby

In November 2019, Eighth and Penn opened it doors to be home to an amazing community of residents. The property itself consists of the restoration of two existing historic buildings -The McNally Building and The Bonn Building. The facades and storefronts of these buildings have been restored, with the interiors renovated to provide space for rental apartment units, luxury amenities and commercial spaces. TREK and Q Development worked with Monmade to fill its Penn Avenue lobby.

Building Bytes- This intricate 3D-printed ceramic wall was created by Building Bytes, an award winning design and fabrication studio, that echoes existing architectural elements throughout the building. The ceramic tiles allows for an open separation of space between the main lobby area and the management office.
Pittsburgh Glass Center-The lobby, along with each unit in Eighth & Penn features a hand-blown pendant light created by the Pittsburgh Glass Center.

Brian Ferrell Designs- The custom clothespin table located in the lobby was created by Brian Ferrell Designs, who also made the striking entryway sign.

Transit Forge- The lobby's oversized sculptural metal clock hand created by Transit Forge pays homage to the watch factory that once occupied part of the build site.
