The Homestead Apartments revitalization consists of the rehabilitation of four residential towers and complete site revitalization. Reconfiguration of the current floor plans will reduce unit density from 350 to 250 dwelling units. Construction of an open area on each floor allows natural light to enter the common areas and corridors. The lowering of windowsills in the living rooms of each unit improves resident views.
Improved handicap accessibility is achieved through widening of dwelling unit interior halls and doorways, as well as replacement of obsolete kitchens and bathrooms with those in compliance with ADA standards.
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program, has awarded Homestead Apartments Towers B and A SILVER Certification
